Elliot PorterFormer Archbishop Shaw defensive lineman Elliott Porter, who was part of a controversy which attracted national attention from ESPN regarding LSU over-signing players, is returning to LSU.
Porter, who signed with LSU for the class of 2010, was later asked to "grayshirt," a practice in which you are asked to wait to become a scholarship student-athlete for at least one semester. Unhappy, Porter turned down the offer and decided to sign with Kentucky.
He redshirted this past season in Lexington.
Now, Porter has returned to LSU, enrolling for the spring semester which started this past Monday. He is officially a walk-on and not on scholarship. Porter is now not eligible to receive a scholarship from LSU for two years by NCAA rules.
The 6'3, 285-pound Porter starred as a defensive lineman for Scott Bairnsfather at Shaw but he will play offensive line for the Tigers.
