On the heels of landing massive offensive tackle Derek Edinburgh from Edna Karr on Tuesday, LSU remains on a tear in the recruiting race for 2012.
The Tigers have landed two more highly-regarded commitments, giving Les Miles and his staff 18 pledges for next February's signing day.
Jalen Mills, a 3-star rated cornerback from DeSoto, Texas, made his verbal. LSU defensive backs coachs Ron Cooper really likes Mills (5'11-180, 4.5 speed) who mulled over offers from Iowa State, Tulsa, Pittsburgh, Houston, North Texas, Virginia, UTEP, Baylor, Colorado State, Memphis and Nevada.
Danielle Hunter (6'4-235, 4.6) from Morton Ranch High School (Katy, Texas) decided on the Tigers over offers from Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Houston, Illinois, Michigan State and Tulsa. Hunter, a 3-star talent, possesses skills to be an outstanding pass rusher off the edge but could get a look-see at outside linebacker.
Another highly rated prospect, Anthony Alford (6'0-205) from Petal, Mississippi, has paired his list to LSU, Alabama, Miss. State, Nebraska, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Southern Miss.
Alford is an outstanding dual threat quarterback, although some recruiters are looking at the 4-star prospect as a wideout or defensive back. Nebraska and South carolina are the biggest pursuers Alford, but I wouldn't sell Mississippi State short since head coach Dan Mullen is trying his best to keep top Magnolia state talent at home.
