The whirlwind year of former LSU catcher Micah Gibbs continues.
Gibbs has signed with the Kansas City Royals, who are sending him to Single-A Wilmington to play for the Blue Rocks.
A prominent player for the Tigers on their 2009 national championship team, Gibbs has had hs ups-and-downs in baseball as of late. He opened the season with Daytona of the Florida State League before being released by the Chicago Cubs after hitting just .163 with one home run and seven RBI in 16 games.
He signed with Independent League Grand Prairie, playing in 17 games. He batted .196 with three RBI in 14 games.
In three minor league seasons, Gibbs is hitting .215 with 30 doubles, seven home runs and 67 RBI.
