SOUTH TOO MUCH FOR WEST COAST:

Wenonah of Birmingham, Alabama had a huge second half to earn a 84-67 victory over St. John Bosco of California in the consolation round of the Allstate Sugar Bowl National Prep Classic.

The Dragons had four players in double figures in a balanced attack that proved too much for the Braves.

St. John Bosco took a early 12-4 lead but Wenonah answered with 8-0 run to tie the game at 12-12. Bosco had a 29-27 lead in the first quarter before a big 9-2 run by Wenonah in the second quarter gave them 38-29 lead at the half.

In the second half, Bosco went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to 40-35. The Dragons answered with a 11-2 run to take a 51-37 lead and never looked back.

Chase Stadler led the victors with 21 points and four assists. De Marco Dansby had 16 points and five rebounds. Isaiah Maston added 15 points, five rebounds and three assists. Durrunya Wilson impressed with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

The Dragon iced the victory with clutch shooting from the charity stripe.

"We shot 80 percent from the free throw line which made the difference," said Wenonah Head Coach Cedric Lane. "This is a top notch tournament and we're enjoying it."

Issac Hamilton led Bosco with 29 points, six rebounds and a pair of assists.

"Teams are little bit too fast, too physical for our kids," said St. John Bosco Head Coach Derrick Taylor after his team slipped to 0-2 in the event. "We're a little shocked at the physicality and speed."
