The New Orleans Saints will practice in Oxnard, Calif., in the days leading up to their third preseason game against the Oakland Raiders, the team confirmed Tuesday.
The squad will practice in Oxnard, California at the Residence Inn By Marriott at River Ridge from Monday, August 22 through Friday August 28.
All practices will start at 4:00 p.m. and end at approximately 6:45 p.m. local time. All practices will be open to the public.
The change of plans does not affect any practices that would have been open to the public in New Orleans. The team planned to break camp following its second preseason game against the Houston Texans on Aug. 20.
Saints coach Sean Payton is more than familiar with Oxnard. In his time as a Dallas Cowboys assistant, the team practiced there.
Oxnard is located along the Pacific Ocean, about an hour west-northwest of Los Angeles.
The new venue will, if nothing else, give the Saints a break from the south Louisiana heat and humidity during August. The average high temperature in Oxnard in August is 74 degrees, and on average, the area gets less than one-tenth of an inch of rain over the entire month.
The team will leave from Houston after the Texans game to California.
