As the NFL's free agency period opened Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints had secured the services of top wide receiver Marques Colston for five more seasons. Soon after, they said goodbye to another free agent wideout and former first round pick.
Robert Meachem signed a four-year, $25.9 million deal with the San Diego Chargers, according to ESPN.
The 27-year old spent five seasons in New Orleans after the Saints selected him with the 27th overall pick of the first round in the 2007 NFL Draft. The University of Tennessee product has hauled in 141 passes for 2,269 yards and 23 touchdowns in his career.
San Diego signed Meachem just hours after losing former Pro Bowl wideout Vincent Jackson to the Saints' NFC South rivals, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
