The return of Adrian Arrington to the active roster in New Orleans was brief.
The Saints announced that Arrington, re-signed earlier in the week, has been placed on injured reserve and lost for the season. Free agent wide receiver Greg Camarillo was re-signed to fill the open roster spot.
Arrington missed most of the preseason due to injury and was cut when the Saints pared the roster down to 53 players following their final preseason contest. But the former seventh round pick by New Orleans out of the University of Michigan was signed back following the Saints season-opening loss to the Washington Redskins.
Camarillo joined the Saints in August before he was released, like Arrington, on the final day of cuts. The seven-year veteran had five catches for 58 yards with the Saints during the preseason. He previously played in the NFL with the San Diego Chargers, Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.
With the concussion suffered by wideout Devery Henderson against the Redskins, the Saints may need Camarillo to play significant snaps this weekend in their game at Carolina.
Other injured players reported by the Saints on Wednesday include cornerback Johnny Patrick (thigh) and defensive end Turk McBride (ankle). The duo did not practice.
Linebacker Scott Shanle (leg) was limited while cornerback Jabari Greer (spots hernia) was full.
New Orleans also activated linebacker Barrett Rudd. The Saints acquired Ruud in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks for unspecified draft pick during the preseason, but used a roster exemption on him last weekend.
