1970—Saints FB Ernie Wheelwright confirms that he will meet with commissioner Pete Rozelle in New York on the following Monday over a league investigation that his club in Jefferson Parish called "Central Park South" (previously called Soul City) was in a building owned by racketeers. The club temporarily closed a month later by Parish health department over sewerage issues.
1973—News is released that Saints owner John Mecom Jr. is in negotiations on selling the team with Harlem Globetrotters owner George Gillett, Palmer House owner Potter Palmer and businessman John O'Neal for an estimated $16-20 million.
