NEW ORLEANS – A Pro Football Hall of Famer and a local hero will join the ever-expanding weekday sports coverage on WHNO-TV, which premieres on Monday, Sept. 2.
Saints legend Rickey Jackson will be a full-time analyst on SportsNOLA TV every Monday at 6 p.m. on WHNO. Jackson, a 2010 inductee into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, joins the returning panel of host Ken Trahan, SportsNOLA.com writer Brian Allee-Walsh and former Saints wide receiver Torrance Small to break down the previous weekend's action.
Former Archbishop Shaw, Ole Miss and Saints quarterback John Fourcade will co-host a new show, Ray Brandt Presents The John Fourcade Show, every Thursday at 6 p.m. Fourcade and co-host Mike Detillier will take a detailed look at the weekend ahead in football.
Back for its second season on WHNO is Prep Recruiting Insider, which will air on Tuesdays this fall at 6 p.m. Recruiting analyst Rene Nadeau and new host Ro Brown will take an in-depth look at the top football recruits in the area, break down the players being targeted by LSU and Tulane, and welcome in coaches, prospects and former greats to the panel.
The rest of the schedule features shows about the Saints, LSU and high school football, along with coaches shows from Southeastern Louisiana, Tulane and Notre Dame.
With the three weekly shows as well as no fewer than 25 sporting events during the 2013-14 season, WHNO will originate more than 100 sports-specific programs during the next nine months.
"We are pleased to continue to grow WHNO's commitment to local, family friendly programming," said WHNO general manager Dean Powery. "The addition of Rickey Jackson and John Fourcade to our team of analysts is incredibly exciting and shows our commitment to providing the highest quality of information to our passionate sports fans in the New Orleans metro area."
In addition to original airings on WHNO, the station's produced shows will also be available in a video-on-demand format on SportsNOLA.com, Louisiana's largest independent sports website.
