Finale in Miami: Coincidence or not, Saints want to relive memories

NEW ORLEANS -- I'm not sure why New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton called his last timeout of the second half with two seconds remaining in the third quarter of Sunday's 31-23 victory against the Houston Texans at Reliant Stadium.

But I completely get the signficance of where the Saints are ending their exhibition schedule Thursday night against the Miami Dolphins.

Sun Life Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla., is the same venue where the Saints' staged their biggest victory in franchise history - 31-17 against the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV on Feb. 7, 2010.

Is it a stroke of genius on the part of one of the game's Master Motivators after serving a season-long suspension for his role in Bounty Gate, or merely coincidence?

Who cares?

What better way to get your team in the right frame of mind as it embarks on a new season than to return to the scene of "The Pick,'' "Ambush'' and "The Comeback.''

Brilliant!

I can hear Payton now in his post-game address Thursday night to Drew Brees, Pierre Thomas, Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Jahri Evans, Jabari Greer, Jonathan Vilma, Will Smith, Roman Harper, Garrett Hartley and Thomas Morstead, among others.

"Stay Thirsty My Friends!''
