Loomis, Hodgins, Lichtenberger, Powell to speak at post-Labor Day Quarterback Club Luncheon

Saints Executive Vice President and General Manager Mickey Loomis is the featured speaker at the weekly meeting of the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club on Tuesday, September 3 at noon at The Cannery, 3803 Toulouse Street in New Orleans.

Loomis will be joined by former LSU star Norman Hodgins, Tulane Assistant Athletic Director for Football Operations Doug Lichtenberger and Landry/Walker head football coach Emmanuel Powell.

Named NFL Executive of the Year in 2006, Loomis has presided over the most successful run in the history of the New Orleans Saints. Loomis is entering his 12th season in his current position and his 14th overall with the Saints. Loomis hired Sean Payton in 2006 and helped build a Super Bowl championship team in 2009.

A former star player at Archbishop Rummel (all-state performer) and becoming an outstanding player at LSU, Hodgins spent time in the NFL with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers and has served on the board of the Tiger Athletic Foundation for LSU.

Lichtenberger enters his seventh season on the Tulane coaching staff but enters his second season as the assistant athletic director for football operations and recruiting for the Green Wave in 2013. Lichtenberger previously served as the tight ends coach and recruiting coordinator for the Tulane football team from 2007-2011.

Powell, who served as the head coach at O. Perry Walker for four seasons (2009-2012), is in his first year as the head coach of the newly merged Landry/Walker football program.

In its 75th year, the Greater New Orleans Quarterback Club is sponsored by Compliance Annual membership is $50. Members and non-members are invited to the weekly luncheons, which are held every Monday for 17 consecutive weeks, with the exception of Tuesday, Sept. 3, the day after Labor Day, running through Monday, Dec. 16.

The cost for members for lunch is $20 while non-members are welcome at $25 each. Speakers on the Saints, LSU, Tulane and prep football are featured every week. The Quarterback Club selects a prep player of the week from the metro area each week and will announce a prep player of the year at the final meeting on Monday, Dec.16, sponsored by the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
