Jimmy Touchet's Bio

Prep Contributor - sportsnola.com

Jimmy Touchet is a graduate of Alexandria Senior High School. While at ASH, Touchet played football for four years under Head Coach J.L. "Butch" Stoker, Coach Louis McGhee, Coach Don Boniol and Coach Duane Urbina in which he was a two year letter man.

Touchet's senior football class hold many records at ASH including most varsity victories (26), most district championships (5 - 2 Varsity, 2 Junior Varsity and 1 Freshman), highest ranking for a Trojan football team, (2nd in the state in the final regular season LSWA poll 1991 in Class 4A) and largest numbers of seniors on a football team (34 - 1991).

After high school, Touchet attended the University of Louisiana - Monroe where he earned a Bachelors of Arts in Journalism / Public Relations with a Minor in Business Administration. ULM is home to famous sports journalist Tim Brando (of CBS Sports) who Touchet met several times during his years in college.

After college, Touchet's career began in the healthcare industry where he served at public relations coordinator and spokesman for CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital (1999-2005) and St. Francis Medical Center (2007-2008). During his time at St. Francis Medical Center, Touchet was in charge of publicity for Bayou Jamb 2007 which saw over 25,000 fans at ULM's Malone Stadium and was featured on the ESPN2 reality show Varsity Inc.

In 2001, Touchet, along with his former Coach Butch Stoker, established the Alexandria Senior High School football website (www.ashtrojans.com) which was one of the first high school football websites started in the state of Louisiana. In 2008, Touchet became the executive producer of Cenla Broadcasting's Friday Night Lights which broadcasts ASH Trojans, Bolton Bears, Pineville Rebels, Menard Eagles and Tioga Indians football games on their stations as well as the Louisiana Friday Night Scoreboard Show which is broadcasted live on Friday nights from 10 PM - 12 AM on KZMZ 96.9 FM in Alexandria. Due to its Central location, the Louisiana Friday Night Scoreboard Show is the only live scoreboard show broadcasted between I-10 and I-20 and its listeners are high school football fans from all over the state who are traveling home after their games on Friday nights.

Touchet's passion for high school football began at an early age when his family lived in Port Neches which is home to the Port Neches-Groves High School (PN-G) Indians. PN-G holds one of the nation's top records for a largest crowds ever to attend a high school football game (49,000 - 1977 Texas 5A State Championship Game between PN-G and Plano at Texas Stadium). According to Touchet, the Port Neches Elementary schools teach the high school fight (CHEROKEE) song before they teach the national anthem or the pledge of allegiance.
