Effort does not equal production for Hornets in loss to Mavericks

NEW ORLEANS - The sliding Hornets were unable to reverse their fortunes, despite a valiant effort on Saturday night at New Orleans Arena. New Orleans dropped their seventh straight game and 12 of their last 13, falling 81-83 to the Dallas Mavericks in front of a lively crowd of 15,471.

NEW ORLEANS â€“ Another first-half lead disappeared in the final 24 minuntes for Monty Williams and the New Orleans Hornets. This time it was Kevin Love and the Minnesota Timberwolves who surged past New Orleans in the second half for a 87-80 victory over the Hornets on Friday night at New Orleans Arena.

Westbrook, Durant doom Hornets in 97-92 Thunder win

NEW ORLEANS - The final stats seemed to favor the home team on Friday night at New Orleans Arena. The Hornets outrebounded the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder 37-34. The Hornetsâ€™ bench outscored the Thunder bench 20-10. The Hornets also forced 20 turnovers and limited the Thunder to 4-of-13 shooting from three-point range. Nevertheless, it all added up to a 97-92 for loss for New Orleans, sending the crowd of 14,428 home grumbling.
