Ribbon cutting event will begin at 5:30 p.m.; Free parking is available in the Rosen Lot
New Orleans – Tulane University will dedicate the Hertz Center, the new practice facility for the Green Wave men's and women's basketball and volleyball programs, this Thursday, Nov. 17 with a public ribbon cutting ceremony at 5:30 p.m.
Ben Weiner Drive will be closed for the event and free parking will be available in the Rosen Lot, which is accessible off Claiborne Avenue and located adjacent to Greer Field at Turchin Stadium. Public tours of the center will begin immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony.
The $13 million state-of-the-art practice facility was named after Doug Hertz, an Atlanta businessman and the chair of the Tulane Board Committee on Intercollegiate Athletics who made the naming gift.
The facility is a two-story building and features two regulation basketball/volleyball courts, a conditioning, training and hydrotherapy center, video and film room, offices and locker rooms for the men's basketball, women's basketball and volleyball coaches and student-athletes, and several conference rooms.
Construction on the 43,000 sq. ft. practice facility began in November of 2010 and will be completed in January of 2012. It is being designed by GouldEvans Associates, LC with Lee Ledbetter & Associates.
