Tulane Men’s Basketball Hosts Washington On Tuesday

Green Wave return to Devlin Fieldhouse on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT after 10-day lay-off for Final Exams

NEW ORLEANS – After having a 10-day break for final exams, the Tulane men's basketball team returns to the court to host Washington on Tuesday at 7 p.m. CT in Devlin Fieldhouse.

The Green Wave (5-5) have not played since a 70-65 victory over Jackson State on Dec. 7. Junior guard Jay Hook poured in a career-high 31 points and hit a school record eight three-points in the process to lead the way.

Washington (5-4) has won three of the last four outings, including an 85-66 victory over Idaho State on Saturday night in Seattle.

"These guys are a marquee opponent and we hope we can have a great crowd in Devlin Fieldhouse to give us a good home court advantage," Tulane head coach Ed Conroy said. "Washington is a team that will continue to test us. Our December schedule is tough and I'm thankful for that. This team needs practice time and tough competition to see what level we need to get to in order to challenge ourselves against the very best."

Tulane will play four more games in December after Tuesday night, including against the 2012-13 Big 12 champion Kansas State in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 28.

The Green Wave enter Tuesday's game averaging 71.0 points per game, but are allowing 75.2. Tulane is also shooting 42.9 percent from the field and hitting 36.1 percent from three-point range.

Sophomore guard Louis Dabney leads the way with 20.4 points per outing, while Hook is scoring 17.7 per game and is shooting 55.3 percent from three-point land, including the eight-of-11 performance against Jackson State. Freshman guard Jonathan Stark is adding 17.1 points and a team-best 4.4 assists per game.

Washington is led by senior guard C.J. Wilcox with 21.6 points per game, while three others are posting 13.0 points per contest.

The Huskies have been scoring 81.9 points per game, but allowing 82.1. UW is shooting 43.9 percent from the floor and is hitting 77.4 percent from the free throw line.

This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

Tulane returns to action this weekend when they host the Westin Holiday Classic in Devlin Fieldhouse. UW-Milwaukee, Northeastern and Alabama State complete the field. Saturday's game times have been changed due to the Green Wave's participation in the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Tulane will face Alabama State at 2 p.m. CT followed by Northeastern vs. UW-Milwaukee at 4 p.m. CT. Sunday's schedule will be Alabama State taking on UW-Milwaukee at 3 p.m. CT and Tulane facing Northeastern at 5 p.m. CT
