Second VooDoo Open Tryout Set For This Saturday

Last Open Tryout Attracted Over 100 Hopefuls

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans VooDoo will hold its second open tryout this Saturday, January 28 at Tad Gormley Stadium in City Park. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. with the tryout starting at 11 a.m.

"At the last open tryout, we signed two guys; I'm hoping to sign a few more from this upcoming one," said head football coach Pat O'Hara. "I had a lot of fun at the last tryout, and must say that there was a lot of hungry guys out there. I look for that same intensity to be present at this tryout as well."

Registration fee for all trying out will be $60 and due at the registration table prior to participating in the work out. The registration fee is non-refundable, and only cash will be accepted as a form of payment.

In addition to the registration fee, all participants will need to bring outdoor cleats to wear on a field turf surface, and other proper athletic attire for the outdoors. The tryout will consist of testing that includes the 40-yard dash and 20-yard short shuttle followed by specific arena football drills.

"I have said all along that in order for the VooDoo to be successful is to have a solid representation from the local area. New Orleans and the state of Louisiana is no slouch when it comes to talented football players," said General Manager Jon Norris. "It is important to turn over every stone to try and find those hidden gems."

Those attending the tryout from outside the metro area and are looking for a hotel should contact the Ramada Inn in Metairie ( 504-835-4141) for special rates. The Ramada Inn has set aside a block of hotel rooms at a special rate while supplies last.
