New Orleans VooDoo Add WR Greg Ellingson

NEW ORLEANS – The Arena Football League (AFL) assigned wide receiver Greg Ellingson to the New Orleans VooDoo, announced the VooDoo front office on Monday afternoon.

Ellingson (6'3" 190lbs. FIU) was a standout at Florida International. Ellingson was an Honorable Mention All-Sun Belt Conference selection his senior season that saw him catch 43 passes for 612 yards and a team-leading 5 touchdowns. During his senior season, Ellingson became FIU's go-to receiver with 35 of his 43 receptions resulting in touchdowns or first downs.

The Tampa native finished his FIU career third in touchdown catches (14), fourth in receiving yards (2,018) and fifth in receptions (131). He is embarking on his first year of arena football.

"In speaking with Greg, I can tell that he is a hard worker and relishes in this opportunity," said New Orleans VooDoo Head Coach Pat O'Hara. "We will start training camp in late February, and I can't wait to see guys like Greg in pads, competing for a roster spot."

Ellingson is a native of Tampa, Fla. and was a part of the Jacksonville Jaguars undrafted free agent signing class of 2011, but was released from the team prior to the start of the regular season. His signing brings the VooDoo roster to 31, leaving 4 spots to fill before training camp.
